Everybody’s Got a Little Light..Under The Sun!

Shwikus_Pfunk tribute in Club Chill

For many music enthusiasts, summer is the absolute best season of the year.  After all, what’s better than listening to your favorite live music?  Listening to your favorite live music under the warmth of a mid-day sun, or dancing with friends under the soft glow of the stars at night – that’s what.

While cooler temperatures and fall colors have signaled the inevitable descent into winter here in the Catskills and northeast Pennsylvania, those of us who want — or need — one last carefree weekend hurrah should fear not.  From September 23rd to the 25th, at “New Minglewood” camp in Lakeview, PA, the 7th annual Catskill Chill Music Festival returns to save us revelers from our impending cabin fever.  In homage to the festival’s prior home of six years, “New Minglewood” is a remote and private summer camp located just across the Pennsylvania border and only fifteen miles from the festival’s original home, Camp Minglewood.

As expected, this year’s lineup features some of the heaviest hitters in the live music scene, many of whom span an entire universe of genres from jam to rock, funk to electronica, and soul to bluegrass.  Musical highlights for 2016 include: Mike Gordon (Phish), George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Greensky Bluegrass, Lettuce, Electron, Keller Williams’ Grateful Grass, Break Science Live Band, Dopapod, Goldfish, Perpetual Groove, Deep Banana Blackout, Rob Garza DJ Set, Turkuaz, Kung Fu, The Werks, Cabinet, Particle and many, many more.

A special theme throughout all prior Chills, this year’s event will offer seemingly endless opportunities for sit-ins and one-time collaborations, including a late-night ‘yacht rock’ set by Turkuaz and Dopapod, a reinterpretation of Miles Davis’ Bitches Brew by members of the funk band Lettuce, a tribute to David Bowie by Particle and The Werks, and a dance-party homage to Michael Jackson by the ChillFam AllStars, a super-group involving members from many of the weekend’s biggest bands.

With all the amenities one could conceivably need to spend a fall weekend camping in the scenic Delaware River Valley, New Minglewood offers beautiful lakefront vistas, cabins for rent, covered stages, indoor movie theaters, indoor and outdoor spaces for yoga, art, and wellness workshops, an easy-to-traverse campus, and closer-than-ever parking.  Oh, and camping is included in the price of your ticket!

For those with more discerning tastes, the VIP Package offers an exclusive viewing area at the Main Stage, featuring a private cash bar with discounted beverages, a special Main Stage Chill Tent with seating options and complimentary snacks, the use of an indoor and outdoor swimming pool and Jacuzzi (open to VIP-level campers and performers) from 10 AM to 4 PM Friday-Sunday, and much more.

With so many different musical, social, and recreational options each within a short walk, New Minglewood is sure to please any discerning musical palette.  The quality, intimacy, and ambiance of prior Catskill Chill Festivals is unmatched, a testament to the staff who organize and execute this festival but also to the adoring and loyal fans who come together to create a weekend chalkfull of revelry year after year.

General admission tickets to Catskill Chill are available now for $215 at, with VIP passes for $420.  For an extra $45, guests are invited to first-ever pre-party on Thursday, Sept. 22nd, featuring sets by fan-favorites Twiddle, Jimkata, Aqueous, and TrakStar.

Come one, come all – and chill, at this year’s Catskill Chill Music Festival!
