Equifunkify Your Life!

Summer has officially has arrived, and that means one thing… festival season and outdoor concerts are in full swing.  For those of us who enjoy good music, close friends, and a temporary community of fun-loving folk, there is no better vacation from the everyday hustle and bustle than a weekend-long, fully sound-tracked getaway in the heart of the Pocono Mountains!

Back for it’s 6th year, Equifunk: The All-Inclusive Music Festival returns August 16-18, to Camps Equinunk and Blue Ridge in Equinunk, PA. This year’s line-up includes some serious heavy hitters: Headliners and funk-pioneers Soulive will join forces with the legendary Maceo Parker; the New Mastersounds will play two sets throughout the weekend; JJ Grey & Mofro, Keller Williams with More Than A Little, Boombox, the London Souls, King Lincoln (featuring Duane Trucks) and Anders Osbourne with guest John Medeski will surely keep festival goers happy, funky, and full.

Unlike most any other music festival, however, Equifunk brings the heat in more than just it’s stellar musical line-up.  Small, intimate, and extremely well organized, Equifunk is also all-inclusive, which means your food, beverage, and recreational needs are completely taken care of!  In other words, your weekend pass includes all music on multiple stages, breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, lunch on Saturday, dinner on Friday and Saturday, and unlimited beer through Sunday morning!  Talk about a sweet deal!

Guests can watch their favorite bands perform at the lakeside pool party during the day and the state-of-the-art E-Rena at night.  For those who need a little more in terms of creature comforts, though, attendees even have the option to upgrade to newly-renovated cabin lodgings, with a private bathroom, shower, and individual bed! Pricing for the weekend is as follows: $350 for a cabin reservation, $185 for regular camping, and $225 for VIP camping (which is located a bit closer to the main stage).

Throughout the weekend, guests can hit up poolside parties with a waterslide, play some tennis and softball, join in on 3-on-3-basketball tournament, and relax with daily yoga sessions.  Even more interactive events include a fan vs. artist tennis match with drummer Simon Allen of the New Mastersounds, and a late-night campfire set with Marco Benevento!

If all this sounds exciting enough, Equifunk will offer its first-ever Sunday Series—a full day of live music, featuring Phish drummer Jon Fishman’s band Pork Tornado, never-before-seen super group the M&Ms (Stanton Moore, Maceo Parker, John Medeski, Papa Mali, Robert Mercurio & Marco Benevento), a superjam by the “Equifunk Allstars, and sets from the Revivalists, the London Souls, the Heavy PetsMike Dillon Band and Main Squeeze.  Unlike most other weekend music festivals, Sundays at Equifunk may as well be renamed Rage-day.

Plain and simple, Equifunk is a funk-filled, food-filled, small-scale festival that feels more like a vacation than a mob-scene of lines, crowds, and too-much-music packed into too-little time.  Make the trip down to Equinunk this summer and it may just be the highlight of your festival season!
