A Whole Lotta Lovin’ from Mayer Hawthorne

If you haven’t heard any of his music, if you haven’t even heard his name mentioned, I wouldn’t quite say you live under a rock, but expect to start hearing it…quite often.

Mayer Hawthorne is your modern conglomeration of Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, The Four Tops and all that other music that makes you wish you lived in a time of blue suede shoes and poodle skirts.

His band, The County, come dressed on stage in red cardigans, white shirt and black ties. The audience is filled with females who, had it been more acceptable, would have gone all bat shit crazy in love, because after all, that is the subject matter of just about all of their music, and what’s wrong with that? Nothing, Mayer has a commanding presence over the audience throughout the show. There might be a little bit of cheese factor, but overall, the music’s good, he and his band are entertaining and Music Hall of Williamsburg is a cool venue.

Oh, and as for us, we know it has been a few months, but, we’re back in the habit! Check for new interviews, concert and restaurant reviews too!
